Green Lightings range of PL1 compact fluorescent lamps incorporate the latest technologies and offer full compliance to new Part L1a 2010 and when developing to The Code for Sustainable Homes. They are user friendly, safe to use in the home environment, highly efficient, attractive in appearance and offer no restriction on the choice of shades as they can be mounted in a standard size pendant.
Quick Start
We use an amalgam reservoir to start our PL1 lamps. Amalgam is 50% Mercury Alloy is safe to touch in its solid form and has been used in the Dentistry, Chemistry and Mining industries for years. The Amalgam pellet vapourises when heated and returns to its safe solid form when the lamp is cool.
All Fluorescent lamps use electricity to excite a mercury vapour in argon or neon gas, resulting in a plasma that produces a short-wave ultraviolet light. This light then causes a phosphor to fluoresce, producing a visible light. While other CFLs contain from 3 to over 5 mg of mercury, All PL1 lamps have mercury levels lower than 3mg.
